Was this fire caused by a chronic backfire from the LH bank? If so, what is the likely cause? Cam chain failure? Broken valve? ECU failure?

That's outside of the engine bay. My guess is something electrical.

It is known if you over fill the fuel tank on a Gallardo, the
gas will flow down the rear fender vents and ignite on the hot exhaust. Never top a Gallardo to the top especially after hard driving.

Too tough to tell, but the E-Gear pump is on that side, so possible that had something to do with it...gas filler is on the other side so filling up and running down the air intakes is out...If the cats get too hot, which can happen on simply fouled plugs, they will glow red and could potentially start a fire like that. Without knowing what happened before the fire, tough to say what caused it.

Superleggera Gallardo's are going to end up rarer than Countach's at this rate, with all the accidents and cars that will probably end up "storied" due to turbo charging etc.!
