No other Countach variant had so many evolving changes they became known as a series 1, 2 and 3. The love or hate iconic wide wing was introduced, new Pirelli tires were designed and fit, new suspension developed, body spats and front spoiler added, a fantastic looking magnesium wheel was produced then, replaced with a magnesium design to help cool brakes. Lastly, the suspension raised and body
dimensions changed on the final series. Did I miss anything?

The 400S is what the youth of the late 70's and early 80's came to lust over with the help of Alpine stereo ads, posters and a Cannonball run movie.
When it comes to a spacific Countach model, the 400S is a pretty important and intersting run!

Most of you know I've owned one for many years and for the others here who own one they will agree, it's one of our favorite collector cars!!!

What a great idea to make an effort to start this thread Greg, you summarized it well.

    Fabulous driving Countachs!

As you know we've actually owned several LP400S over the years, 3 to be precise, 1121034, 1121036 & 1121038, all Series Ones, the daddy of which was and still is 1038 imaged below

Does anyone know the chassis number of the silver RHD LP400S that was at the Haynes Motor Museum (possibly late 80s to early 90s?)? I sold this car in 1996 to Stuart Smith when I was at Pullicino Classics in London.

It really goes to show how rare the cars are . You had 3 Vins in a row!

The S1 and S2 Lowbody cars are my absolute favorite to drive and stare at without a doubt. It’s bizarre that a large part of the collector car world doesn’t have a clue about these amazing machines.

I have been waiting for this thread , so glad it has started and I look forward to pages filled with these incredible special and rare machines !

Yes it was, there is a small sliver of it still visible under the passenger door panel if the new owner would like to see it. I have to admit though, I do like the color combination the car is in now.

    Cheers Jim
